YOUR FIRST SESSION
You can begin
as you are.
You don’t need previous experience or a sequence memorised. Start with a conversation about the class and how you would like to take part.
What might we do?
A class can include simple repeated movements from Tai Chi & Qigong, as well as loosening exercises. Your instructor guides the practice, giving you time to become familiar with it.
Painting the Rainbow includes seated and standing approaches. Ask about your chosen class and the options available before attending.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move, and secure footwear suitable for the venue. For park sessions, dress for the weather and ask about the ground and meeting point.
What if I need adjustments?
Tell us what would make joining a class easier for you. Ask about seating, step-free access, toilets, parking or any support you need. Arrangements differ between venues.
Talk to us before you come ↗Tai Chi & Qigong.
Tai Chi & Qigong are practices involving connected movement and attention to how we move. Painting the Rainbow focuses on making movement practice accessible in community settings.
Qigong includes exercises involving movement or stillness, breathing and attention. Repeating a movement gives you time to explore it without needing to learn a long sequence.
If you are unsure about starting an activity because of a health condition, discuss it with an appropriate health professional as well as your instructor.
